How to Stay Safe from the Sun When You Are on the Water

Last updated 4 years ago

Although boating can be great way to unwind and relax, being on the water can be very stressful for your skin. Being out in the water directly exposes you to harmful UV rays from the sun, as well reflected UV rays from the water and deck.

There are several ways you can protect yourself from sun exposure while boating. First, apply lots of SPF 50 or higher sunscreen, and be sure to reapply after swimming. Second, protect your eyes and eyelids from cataracts and melanoma with polarized sunglasses. Finally, wear clothing that protects your skin from the sun. Hats, long-sleeve shirts, and UV-resistant fabrics are ideal on a boat.

When you’re ready for the sun, come to Moose Landing Marina in Naples, ME. Located off Route 302, Moose Landing Marina is your destination for summer fun on the water, including boat and pontoon rentals, boat repair and maintenance, new and used boat and lift sales, and more!
